A man named Ogeoma Ogbonna has tragically taken his father’s life by beheading him in the Umuomei community, located in the Obingwa council area of Abia State.
According to reports, after beheading his father, Ogeoma proceeded to bury the decapitated head before neighbours were attracted to the incident and alerted other members of the community.
As sympathizers thronged the compound, they only discovered the headless body in a pool of blood. Everyone has been bewildered over the incident and wonders what could have led Ogeoma to kill his father.
Sources close to the victim’s family revealed that Ogeoma had been showing some signs of mental instability for some time and had frequently made threats to harm others which actually raised concern among friends and relatives. But none had imagined it leading to this tragic outcome.
“Ogeoma has been showing signs of mental illness. He was always threatening to harm people. But nobody in this community knew that he will get to the extent of cutting off his father’s head.
“We are still in shock on how he could kill his father. Before neighbours were called in to see what happened, he had already buried the head in a shallow grave in the compound. He took people and showed them the grave,” a native of the community, a source told the journalist.
As of the time this report was filed, Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer for Abia State Command, had not yet responded to the situation.
