The former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello in the company of his successor, Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, visited the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, at his Abuja residence.
The spokesman of the FCT minister, Lere Olayinka, revealed this via a statement and pictures shared on his X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday afternoon. However, he did not disclose the purpose of the meeting.
Meanwhile, there are speculations that the Kogi state former governor who is currently on trial for money laundering, is looking for a way to forge new alliances with the key cabinets of Bola Tinubu.
Recall that Yahaya Bello is currently facing a 19-count charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for allegedly siphoning over N110bn from the state treasury.
Bello was detained after several attempts to get hold of him; in which he finally succumbed to pressure. But was granted bail in December with the sum of N500 million with two sureties in like sum. The case trial was adjourned to continue on February 24, 2025. The ex-Kogi State Governor was also asked to submit his passport, while he remained at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the perfection of the bail conditions.
